The Dr. Ayana Elizabeth Johnson Climate Change & Sustainable Agriculture Collection (Dr. J CCSA Collection) at the University of Connecticut Algoresville collects information resources related specifically to the topics of climate change and sustainable agriculture practices. The current strength of the collection, comprising over 50% of resources are climate change journal databases focused on current and emerging research. Our students are not solely researchers but also future farmers and agriculturalists and to support their future work the collection seeks to expand available resources in climate change mitigation and sustainable farming topics. The goal of the collection is to have 55-65% of the collection be comprised of sustainable agriculture resources and the remainder of the collection to be filled with resources on climate change.
Our team of subject librarians make selection decisions. Decisions are made based on subject bibliographies, professional review resources, and the websites of professional organizations working in the areas related to the collection. The students, faculty, staff, and researchers of UCONN Algoresville, as well as other community members using the library are welcome to make title and resource suggestions via the Request a Title form on the library website. Requests are reviewed by the relevant subject librarian as they come in. Final purchase decisions are approved by the Dr. J CCSA Collection Director after a budget review.
