Policy

While we strive to provide factual information resources with the most accurate and up-to-date content, we recognize that the focus of our library, climate change and sustainable agriculture, is frequently

brought under scrutiny. We offer resources containing a range of viewpoints on climate change, sustainable agriculture, and related topics. Should any patron consider a resource inappropriate for the collection, they may submit a formal reconsideration request via Google Forms, or a librarian can submit a form on the patron’s behalf via a face-to-face meeting or over the phone. After being received, challenges are collected and then reviewed quarterly by a formal committee composed of one collection librarian, one university librarian, two active faculty members and two current students. Final decisions are ultimately made by the Dean of Libraries for UCONN Algoresville. After decisions are made, items are maintained or removed from the collection accordingly. Challenges will be kept confidential and whenever possible patrons will be privately notified of the results of their challenge.
